On Monday the 23rd February 2015, Prakash Javadekar, India’s environment minister, announced that the Union Ministry of Environment and Forest (MoEF) has turned into a facilitating ministry for sustainable development, under National Democratic Alliance’s rule. Until now the MoEF was considered an obstructionist ministry, but now things will change: the ministry would work as a facilitator in reaching sustainable development goals, bringing transparency and promoting people’s participation. Sustainable development, green growth and poverty elimination will be the main principles of ministry’s activities.
