The State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) announced recipients of the nation's top awards for patents - China Gold Patent Awards - at a ceremony in mid-December to honour 20 gold-medal invention and utility models, and five industrial designs. The China Gold Patent Awards was first launched in 1989 by SIPO and WIPO and it has helped in the development of China’s patent and design efforts, and promoted the nation’s economic restructuring. According to SIPO, since the 20 award-winning inventions and utility models were granted patents, they had greatly generated combined sales revenue and profits by the end of last year. Due to the improved management systems and overseas IP deployment, the award-winning companies and organizations are more competitive on the market. However, officials also called for higher-quality patent applications and more efficient patent examination. The gLAWcal Team LIBEAC project Tuesday, 23 December2014 (Source: China Daily)
