Once again, the negotiations between the European Union and the USA with regard to the Transatlantic and Investment Trade Partnership (TTIP) are under the focus of the politicians of both the countries. Indeed, the opening to US procurement market could be a great occasion for European productive sector. The potential revenue for the European industries is definitely high and the transformation of the “Buy American” view into a “Buy Transatlantic” view has a lot of appeal for the old continent. On the one side, the different food and quality standards between Europe and the USA might create some issues and Europe may be called to low down its standards. On the other hand, the possibility of the disappearance of local markets and sustainable reality in the US has raised concerns of some civil society groups. In conclusion, from both the sides the need of a different approach is called and required. Even the negotiations are still behind the curtains, Europe and the USA shall take in count the request from civil society directly involved in the opening to the US public procurement market.
