2015 represents a historic opportunity to adopt a new sustainable development agenda for the purpose of a global agreement on Climate Change. This is why, on 23 January, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon hosted an event “Making 2015 a Historic Year”, with the participation of UN Global Compact. During the meeting, chief executives of Global Compact LEAD and several Caring for Climate companies discussed on the opportunity to integrate risks and opportunities related to sustainable development and climate change within their business strategies as a result of the interdependence between societal and company performance. The Secretary-General underlined the need for companies to engage in a continuous dialogue with Governments and to support the SDGs. For these purposes, transformational partnerships matching with SDGs will be crucial, as well as financing from private sectors.
