Dr. Sabrina Urbinati is Senior Research Associate at gLAWcal - Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development. She is an Expert of International and European Union Law. Her main areas of research are the international protection of cultural heritage and of the environment.

Dr. Sabrina Urbinati is Senior Research Associate at gLAWcal - Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development. She is an Expert of International and European Union Law. Until 2021 she collaborated as Associate Researcher in international law at the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milan, Italy). She obtained her double PhD in International Law from University of Paris 1, Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris, France) and the University of Milan (Milan, Italy). Dr. Sabrina Urbinati’s main areas of research are the international protection of cultural heritage and of the environment, but she has been involved in several national, international and European research projects concerning these same topics and several others, such as the law of the sea, tourism, human rights and humanitarian law. Her expertise on these topics has resulted in several national and international publications and presentations at conferences, as well as in collaborations with several important research centres such as the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (France) and the Cultural Law Research Centre of China (China). Since 2006 she has been in charge of teaching seminars on international law and international organisation, the protection of the environment and the protection of cultural property and heritage at the School of Law of the University of Milano-Bicocca (Milan, Italy). Finally, since 2000, she has acted as legal expert of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in several negotiations and international meetings at UNESCO. In 2012 and 2013 she also acted as legal expert of the ACCOBAMS Secretariat and ASPACI (an Italian NGO specialised on the protection of intangible cultural heritage).
