Professor YAO Jia, PhD is a Fellow at gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development and was a EU Commission Marie Curie Fellow and Visiting
Scholar (2014-2015) at gLAWcal – Global Law Initiatives for Sustainable Development in the framework of the People Programme (Marie Curie Actions) of the European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under REA grant agreement n°269327 Acronym of the Project: EPSEI (2011-2015) “Evaluating
Policies for Sustainable Energy Investments: Towards an Integrated Approach on National and International Stage”.

Professor YAO Jia works as an Associate Professor in the Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and also works as a part time Post-Doctoral
Researcher at Center for Environment, Resources and Energy Law, Tsinghua University (THCEREL) about the research plan of carbon finance legal system.
She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Law (2001) at Jilin University Law School, with major in Economic Law. Then she continued to pursue her Master’s Degree in
Law (2004) at Renmin University of China, Law School, with major in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. After her graduation, from 2004 to 2006, she worked as an in-house Legal Counsel in China Export & Credit Insurance Corporation (SINOSURE) in Beijing. Then from 2006 to 2009, she continued to pursue her Ph.D. in Law at Renmin University of China, Law School, with major in Economic Law. After she graduated in 2009, she became a full time researcher in the
Institute of Law, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and a part time Post-Doctoral Researcher of THCEREL in 2014.

From 2007 to 2012, she has previously participated in a research project on “New Energy and Renewable Energy Policy and Legislation” funded by the Chinese
National Social Science Foundation focusing on the Incentive Mechanism of Economic Law of New Energy and Renewable Energy Development. Her main research areas are economic law and energy law,and she focuses on the research of carbon finance legal system these two years.

Chinese native speaker, she is fluent in English.
